Clive McFarland

School Visits, Book Readings, and Events

I love visiting schools, libraries, bookshops, and festivals to talk about being an author/illustrator.

In my book readings, I read the story, share fun facts, and lead a draw-along for young people (and grown-ups!) to learn how to draw characters from the book.

In my illustration workshops, we explore the process of pairing words and pictures to create new stories.

In my story writing workshops, we dive into brainstorming ideas, structuring a plot, creating language and dialogue, and shaping a dynamic narrative.

I aim to deliver fun, relaxed events that encourage creativity and celebrate books. My events are most suitable for primary school-aged children and can be tailored to meet each group’s needs. I offer both in-person and virtual events.

For more information on my workshops, fees, and availability, please contact me.  I am based in Northern Ireland and can accommodate a limited number of school visits each year. My fees are closely aligned with the author fee guidelines from Children's Books Ireland.

What People Say

“It was an absolute pleasure working with Clive on a number of workshops in Kuwait. Clive led sessions for over 200 children of different ages and nationalities, skilfully adapting the content (sometimes at the last minute!) to capture their attention and stimulate their imaginations. Clive’s engaging style encouraged even the most shy children to build their confidence to draw and develop their creativity."
